On 15th April 07, Marina Beach in Chennai witnessed a spectacular show By Indian Air Force. Yours truly decided to witness the show few Minutes Prior to the start. With the Crowd heavily pouring in and the Police estimating the crowd strength at close to four lakh made me loose some valuable time in reaching marina beach.
The Stars of the show were the Surya Kiran's.The team has a total of 13 pilots of whom only 9 are flying at any given time. The pilots are selected from the fighter stream of the IAF. Presently there are pilots with experience on the Mirage 2000, Jaguar, MiG-23 and MiG-27. All are experienced QFIs with about 1000 hrs of experience on the Kiran itself.The team performed their deft manoeuvres in batches of three, five and nine.
Next, the stage was set for the majestic helicopters that formed `Saarang', which was adjudged as one of the best ten teams in the world at the recently held air show in United Arab Emirates.
The choppers moved on and in came the `Akash Ganga' sky diving team. Formed in 1987, the current team consisting of 10 paratroopers performed the spectacular jumps from a height of 30,000 ft.
Had a great time and here it reminded me that I need to upgrade to a better Cam or have a lens attached. So need to start saving Money for it now.
